Landryne and Jennifer
For Jennifer Hollister, purchasing a welcome meal for Landryne from the The Big 5 African Cuisine was the start of a friendship between the Hollister and Mukube families.
Landryne Mukube arrived in Lancaster this past May - still waiting for her family to come join her. Jennifer Hollister had just become a volunteer for CWS, and brought Landryne a welcome meal and groceries upon arrival. Fast forward, Landryne and her family are reunited, and both the Hollisters and the Mukubes are celebrating Landryne's birthday at The Big 5 African Cuisine.
Francisco and Dani
Supporting new refugee neighbors means a great deal to Frisco's Chicken founder/owner, Francisco Gomez De La Torre, as well as his daughter, Dani Gomez De La Torre, the Brand Ambassador.
"While we weren't refugees, we migrated to the US and know how difficult it is. You're leaving your family, friends, and everything you've known in your life for the unknown. I can't think of anything more appropriate to welcome than with a meal. We serve happiness and really hope this meal will bring them happiness."
"It brings a sense of community, and we love to give back," says Dani. "It can be really hard coming here and starting out by yourself. Just giving a little bit back... hopefully it makes a difference!"
